Book Fair Luau

Cottage Lake’s Book Fair is Next Week!!! Tuesday, May 22 nd 12:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23 rd 12:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 24 th 12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Students will be able to shop during their library time or on Tuesday after school until 6:30 p.m.  Be sure to send in some money and allow for tax! ($10 is a good guideline for a nice book!)  Gather Some Great Summer Reading and Support CLE’s Library at the Same Time! Golden Sailboat and Golden Acorn Award Nominations

Foreign Language in our Junior Highs - SURVEY

C alling All Parents of Future Jr. High Students:   Are you aware that foreign language classes start at the high school level in Northshore School District schools, unlike many other districts in the state which start in Jr. High? Finding Kind

The Woodinville Fire Department is pleased to invite the WHS pathway 6-12th grade students to the presentation of a grass roots documentary, Finding Kind.   This documentary is traveling to schools across the country.  The filmmakers share personal experiences and nuances of bullying, in a moving discussion to inspire us to be kinder to each other.  The presentation is Friday, March 23, 6:45-8:30PM at the Northshore Performing Arts Center, 18125 92nd Ave, Bothell.  Students in grades 6-9 will need to attend and sit with a parent or guardian.  Admission is free.  If you have any questions about the documentary, please ... read full article

Focus Day Recap

February 20th was WA State PTA Focus Day, an opportunity for parents, children, and advocates for education in our state to rally on our Capitol steps.  Families from around the state marched to the Capitol, networked with other PTA members, left messages for lawmakers and even got to meet with some of them.  This picture shows CLE's own Gary Malkasian and family meeting with Rep. Foreign Language Program for Secondary Education

Cottage Lake Parents:  Are you aware that foreign language classes start at the highschool level in Northshore School District schools, unlike many other districts in the state which start in Jr. High?  There's currently a movement to propose a change -below is a letter that was initially sent to the district to start the conversation regarding incorporating foreign language classes at the junior high level. Great NEWS for Washington Kids!

Following please read an article authored by Nancy Chamberlain (former CL parent and PTA President!) and posted on the Woodinville Patch regarding a legislative win for our schools! The State Supreme Court unanimously ruled what many of us have known for years (decades) – the State is not fully funding our K-12 schools.  You can read the whole decision in the NEWS Lawsuit here:  http://www.courts.wa.gov/opinions/pdf/843627.opn.pdf . WA State PTA Men's Essay

Threads and Treads

Threads and Treads  is a free Northshore School District Clothing Bank located at Canyon Park Junior High School. This service, operated by volunteers, is open Thursdays 4-6pm.   Northshore School District families are welcome to shop for 3 outfits per family member per month. The main focus is clothing for school age to young adult (high school), and parents.   We hope to get winter coats again this year!  There is no screening process to demonstrate need, nor do families need a referral. This February 10th from 6:00-9:00pm, join us for the Winterfest Dinner and Silent Auction - a famiy friendly event including dinner, dessert, silent auction, crafts and activities for the kids.  To make this event a success, we need YOUR help with auction procurement!  First step:  register for the event now (using the winterfest link on the toolbar).  Second Step:  Figure out what you plan to contribute! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Cottage Lake, November 16-23 in the library.  New this year - ONLINE ORDERING - and books will be shipped free to school!  Our Family Night will be on November 17th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.  Join us and see your friends, enjoy some contests and activities and shop for books to benefit the CLE Library.  We are still in need of volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up and sales during the day and after school.  Please visit the book fair link for more information! ASAP Class Registration extended until Friday!

Sign ups have been extended to Friday, September 16th for our after school classes. Let's make sure our kids continue to have great options for after school! Those classes that don't have enough students enrolled will not be offered, so please talk to other parents about their interest in the programs. Why You Should Join the PTA
